About

Lydia was born and raised in northern England and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish from the University of Northumbria. During her time at university, she spent six months in France at the Université de Provence, and six months in Spain at the Universidad de Cádiz. Following graduation in 2012, Lydia moved to Matane, Quebec where she worked for two years as an English language assistant and started working in the translation field on a part-time basis, taking on small translations from agencies and a number of pro bono translation projects with UK-based charity Christian Aid, and Montreal-based charity Exeko. In summer 2014, Lydia left her teaching job to pursue translation on a full-time basis, she launched her business - Chic-Choc Translations - in November 2015. She is currently undertaking her Master’s degree in Translation Studies at the University of Portsmouth.
