1. A matix is generated from a binary image of a symbol/character. It is then correlated with the matrices of the 36 Alphanumeric characters (0 to 9 and A to Z). The alphanumeric character that gives the highest correlation coefficient is recognised as the the character representing the symbol.
2. Any other form of correlation may be used for this character recognition.
