Automotive industry is one of the most challenging sectors within industry.
Largest companies tend to produce only the products with high content of know-how and buy the rest to external companies “suppliers”. Therefore, the impact of purchased products is key for a good performance of the company. Suppliers do have a great impact on the customer : cost, quality and service.
Within automotive industry, the most common procedure is that product engineers define the product needed with a technical specification (drawing, 3d data, technical propertities, etc). In some cases, raw material is also needed.
2.Problem to be solved
Many times it happens that buyers need to find a supplier for a certain product but do know where to find it on an easy , quick and reliable way. The most common is to ask to colleagues from same company or friends but this is not often the solution.
Main Objective : Create a structured company database in such way that finding a supplier that meets certain criteria is quick , easy and for free (no cost).
Secondary Objective: Offer a platform for companies to be visible for as many as possible potential customers. Registration has to be for free. Suppliers may have the possibility to appear on the first position of the list of results by paying a fee.
Secondary Objective: Offer a platform for buyers to place RFQs into (depending on cost from programmer)
Boundaries and Context of the problem
Industry : Automotive
Type of suppliers : companies producing manufactured products , raw materials or services mainly for the automotive business.
Buyer should obtain a list of companies who can produce the product he needs. Buyer may introduce the search criteria for the products and companies. Buyer should obtain the contact details of the potential suppliers.
Once the buyer obtains the list of companies, any further action from the buyer is not part of this application.
Buyer may be any person in the world with the need of finding a supplier for the company he’s working for.
The application GUI should be the most simple and self-explained as possible as potential users can be very different in terms of culture and education.
Initial language of the GUI should be English but it should also be possible to show it in different languages (that depends on the cost).
