We are looking for a suitably qualified consultant with adequate experience in the field to carry out a review of the source code documentation associated with a bespoke Client Information System.
Freedom from Torture (FfT) has developed a complex bespoke clinical and legal information system. FfT owns the intellectual property rights. A key requirement of the development of the system by a third party supplier, was to allow FfT to be independent of any supplier or software developer for further development of the system and support.
We seeking a consultant to review the code and associated documentation to confirm the supplier has developed the code in a way which in the future would allow FfT to be independent of the original creator of the code.
To this end FfT wish to reassure itself that the source code and surrounding documentation is of sufficient quality to allow a experienced and skilled developer (or suppliers) to take over the support and further development of the system specifically;
That the source code is of high quality and “self documented”.
Consistent naming conventions are used throughout.
Names used in the code are meaningful.
The code is well structured and easy to navigate.
Where inline documentation of the code is needed it is in place, is clear and adds value to the code.
Other documentation is sufficient to allow the code to be understood for further development.
It is not expected that the consultant will review the entire code but will sample various elements of code and look for patterns.
Any report highlighting issues of the code may be shared by the developer for comments.
