Description and purpose of the website: Reviews and advice on specific locations
The website is intended to offer reviews and advice on specific worldwide locations, enabling other users to take the reviews into account and be inspired by location photos and user comments.
The general idea is that users add a new location with a kind of profile, map its location in Google Maps and upload their own photos of the location. Furthermore, the users rank the location on specific, predefined criteria and write reviews and comments about their experiences. The photo as well as the user rankings of the location are the central elements of each location profile. The entire website content is thus user-generated.
The website should be created with responsive design, i.e. be optimized for the use on mobile and tablet devices. Moreover, users should be able to take photos and directly upload them within their browsers via the website. Therefore a database solution is also required.
Also, visitors should be able to browse through the website and search for locations. The search and filter options should be the information displayed on each location profile, such as the ranking criteria, location name or geographic location. For both the “add a location” function as well as the “search a location” function, GPS or location tracking (i.e. via WIFI signal) should be implemented in order to facilitate the process for the user. Each location profile contains specific affiliate program information (affiliate API to be implemented on each location page).
Users, who want to add a location or provide a review must log-in to the website. Login via Facebook or Google+ accounts should therefore be enabled as well as the possibility to create a new, rather simple user-profile within the website. The inclusion of social media such as Facebook and Google+ should enable the users to also write comments for each location and share the location on their user profiles with friends.
